Project Description

Francina Berdine

One needs to have the ability, not only to give but to receive gracefully.

My name is Francina and I’m a fighter.

Uncharted territory has been my ordeal for 35 years, while I was surviving in society as an autistic woman without the advantage of a proper diagnosis. This resulted in chronic stress, depression and loneliness, numerous hospitalisations and therapies, but also in authenticity.

From this place of authenticity I chose to become a Catholic 15 years ago. Eight years ago I was given a proper diagnosis. I am permanently disabled, however, and unfit for work, but more grateful than ever for all that I have. I have discovered that giving and receiving are fundamentally the same. One needs to have the ability, not only to give but to receive gracefully. My interests are: God, writing, cats, music and humour.

I can come across a bit simple sometimes, but I am not a person anyone would want to underestimate. #universityofhardknocks
