Project Description

Katie Humphrey

“I am doing a PhD at The University of Roehampton with Tina Beattie and Clare Watkins on women and family life in church teaching, feminist theology and women’s experience since Vatican 2.”

I am a married, post grad student in my 30’s, born and bred Catholic.

I am doing a PhD at The University of Roehampton with Tina Beattie and Clare Watkins on women and family life in church teaching, feminist theology and women’s experience since Vatican 2. I have had a varied career so far in the charity, corporate and education sectors since graduating from Hull University where I studied Theology. I spent most of my young life as an active member of my Catholic community through volunteering with the youth church, choir, confirmation and first communion groups. I was lucky enough to work as the youth coordinator during my year out between school and University helping with liturgies, fundraising and preparing young people for the sacraments, two of whom are now priests! In my lifetime I want to see full and equal participation for men and women in the Catholic Church.
