“I am fascinated by the lives of the saints and the history of our church, and am working on a Masters in Religious Education.”
My calling appears to be bringing the little children to Jesus.
I teach Grade 4 in a Catholic Fine Arts elementary school in Calgary, Canada. I am married with 3 children, who I hope shall be my redemption. My husband and I run Sacramental Preparation across 3 parishes in our community, as well as teaching Sunday School and helping run Vacation Bible School. I am fascinated by the lives of the saints and the history of our church, and am working on a Masters in Religious Education. I stumbled upon Catholic Women Speak about a year ago and have, in complete honesty, learned a little more each day since. I feel a bit like Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus as I take in the wisdom and experience of the women in the group, and feel incredibly blessed to be a part of it.
After a couple of months when I was able to help my cousin’s family a bit, I had to find a job. Someone said there was a vacancy at the school for blind and partially sighted children. I didn’t get the English post I applied for but they offered me one in the Junior Department.
I worked there for twelve years and then worked in a peripatetic service for visually impaired children and young people. One of my schools was for students with profound difficulties and after I retired they asked me to do some multi-sensory work in a new project for young adults with profound difficulties. I do half a day a week and love it.
