Gemma Simmonds, a religious sister of the Congregation of Jesus, is a senior lecturer in pastoral theology, specializing in ecclesiology, Catholic education, spirituality and formation for ministry. The director of the Religious Life Institute at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge, she has worked among women and street children in Brazil, as chaplain in Cambridge and London universities and chaplaincy volunteer in Europe’s largest women’s prison. She is a regular broadcaster for the BBC.
