Each week, you will find a link here to a video lecture by Professor Tina Beattie, focusing on different aspects of Catholic women’s scholarship, vocations and personal lives. The videos are free, but to access the online resources referred to and to have access to the online discussion forum and weekly live Zoom seminar, you need to register for the full course. You can do so by going to this link. Please choose the payment option which you can best afford. We do not want to exclude anybody on grounds of cost, but we also need to cover the cost of the course.

Women’s Perspectives on Theology, History and Scripture: we ask what resources we might draw upon in listening to and engaging with Catholic women’s stories

  • Session 3: Week beginning Monday, 14th March (Live Zoom discussion: Wednesday, 16th March 6.30 to 7.30 pm):

Love, Sexuality and Celibacy: we consider how some women interpret their experiences and roles in the context of new sexual and social paradigms with regard to desire, embodiment and relationships

Maternal Stories: we consider different experiences of mothering and the ways in which these are shaped by women’s faith, often in challenging ways

Identity, Difference and Belonging – Negotiating Cultural and Religious Boundaries: we ask how changing concepts of identity, otherness and community influence women’s sense of self

Women’s Vocations – Opportunities and Obstacles: we consider the different ways in which women feel called to serve the Church, as theologians, pastoral and parish workers, religious sisters, chaplains and priests
